Peas are plants that have flowers, a type of shrub that produces pods or legumes which, if traced from the western part of the Asian continent.

Legumes grow in places where the weather is cool and lots of suns and can be planted in places with different climates.

Besides being an excellent source of protein, vitamins A, B, and C, this plant is also rich in fiber and delicious when eaten; make it a useful plant to be planted in the garden.

Peas have many types, including:

1. Sutton peas

This only grows to 30 centimeters, make it a good choice for plants to grow in small gardens, greenhouses, and anywhere if the available parcels are not too large.

2. Imperial Green peas

The type of Imperial Green peas can produce beans as long as 40 centimeters, and each petal contains several large and famously delicious beans.

1. Choose various types of peas that you want to grow.

Peas are available in many different types, and some of them may be suitable for planting on a plot of land that you own.

Maybe you want to grow peas in a small kitchen garden or a large greenhouse; do not worry, there is always the right type of peas for every size of the planting place.

2. Choose a good date to plant bean seeds based on the climate you live in.

Depending on the area where you live, you can plant peas in late autumn after you clean the garden after summer.

That is, you can pick peas in spring when you are ready to plant another crop. But if you live in an area where winter is very cold, you have to wait until spring arrives before planting.

3. Prepare soil that has been mixed with fertilizer.

Whenever you decide to plant peas, plant them in the soil that has been tilled and given a choice of fertilizer.

Peas are plants that produce nitrogen gas, so actually, you don’t need to give them fertilizer. But if you provide fertilizer, use a fertilizer that has a low nitrogen content.

Choose a place to plant that is exposed to direct sunlight, and do not plant peas near an onion plant. Work the soil where the peas will be planted, then dig the soil a few centimeters deep and apply compost.

4. You might consider inoculating plant seeds to accelerate their growth.

Peas can grow on any type of soil because legume plants can usually meet their own nutritional needs.

However, you can help plants convert nitrogen by using Rhizobia bacteria to accelerate growth and help plant roots make nitrogen.

This bacterium is available in the form of black powder and can be obtained at any garden shop.

Lightly wet the seeds of the pea plant and place the seeds in a coffee can or cup that has been filled with inoculation bacteria.

After that, shake for a few minutes slowly, so the seeds can be covered with bacteria evenly. The seeds are ready to be planted.

5. Directly sow the seeds of peas in moist soil that has been cultivated properly.

Before planting with seeds, wet the soil with water slowly so that the soil becomes moist. Do not inundate the soil with water, just give a little water so the soil becomes moist.

  • Divide the land into two rows, the first row is about 20 centimeters from the second row. You can give a little more distance if you plant legumes that can grow large. Then to plant the seeds of peas, use your fingers to make a hole in the row of soil about 5 centimeters from the surface.
  • Look for a dark spot on the surface of the seed – the “eye” of the seed – and plant the seed with the “eye” facing down. Some gardeners recommend planting twice as many seeds as you originally wanted to plant, as a backup if there are seeds that don’t bud.

6. If you live in a cooler climate, start planting seeds indoors.

One good way to plant them is to use cardboard tubes used for toilet paper rolls; each jar is filled by every seed you raise.

Use a special tray to grow seeds that can be bought at any garden shop, to line up used tissue rolls, and start planting pea seeds.

Stand a tissue tube in the special tray and insert it to fit into each hole. Fill the tube at least ⅔ to ¾ filled with a special type of soil that is usually used for plants planted in containers.

You might spill some of the soil, but you don’t need to worry about making a mess.

Those are some ways and tips on how to plant peas that you can do at home. Do not forget to always monitor the state of your peas to grow well.
